I was asked to do the cover for the 2008 Dutch Treat Club Yearbook that will be distributed on May 19th at the Gala at the Harvard Club. I haven't done my light cartoon style in a long time for a publication, but this came out all right. I'll post the cover here to coincide with the event later this month.
My Lighthouse. It's one of the most rewarding things I've ever made. What's next? I'm going to make an environment for it creating a shadowbox table that is a collection of rocks and shells, Adirondack chairs, trees, etc. with vintage sailboats off "the coast" to scale (1/12th). I still have furniture to make and rooms to fill. What's the most fun about it is the working light. The basic kits are from Real Good Toys in Vermont. Before I assembled it, I did the stucco walls, plank floors, wallpaper, cut the moldings, made the doors and windows. The interior and exterior lighting has a extension strip that I plug the wires into for the individual lamps. The Keeper's cabin has tiled floors and soon to have its own screen door, exterior gardens ala Nantucket, and furnished vintage kitchen. It's tempting to add a working train nearby, but then that'd overtake my home.
Latest news is that I will be having a solo show at The National Arts Club May 2-16th, 2009...next year. I'll need a year to get ready for it. It will be in the Grand Gallery. The space will demand about 40 to 50 paintings. More information to come. I will also be showing work at the Society of Illustrators Our Own Show coming up in in July.
I've been invited through the saatchi website to join a website in Germany, artmesh.org. When the link and my page is in order, it will be listed here so you can see it.
There's a new list of artists in my Links! that might be of interest to you. These are personal friends and associates from The National Arts Club and The Dutch Treat Club.
As always, thank you to everyone who takes the time to review my work.
